This is part of my series on how to avoid time-consuming “short cuts” and use Word in the right way to maximise your time and improve the look of your documents. I bear no responsibility for any pickles you might get yourself into! Always save a copy of your document before manipulating it. It is important to remember: The ruler in Word uses the units of measure that you can set. They’re great for precisely lining up images, text, and other elements.

Word’s rulers let you control the margins of your page and the indentation of paragraphs. And then you may see the horizontal and vertical ruler appearing in the document. Please note, these hints work with versions of Microsoft Word currently in use – Word 2007, Word 2010 and Word 2013 all for PC.
